How Back and Lay Betting Works on the Exchange
This is the part new players find most confusing, so here is a worked example rather than a definition. Imagine India are playing Australia, and the Match Odds market shows India at 1.80 to back and 1.82 to lay.

Three practical points come out of that table:
- Laying risks more than the stake shown. Always look at the liability figure before you confirm a lay bet. At higher odds it grows fast: laying ₹1,000 at 6.0 puts ₹5,000 at risk.
- The gap between back and lay prices is the market's spread. In busy markets such as an India match it is usually small. In quiet markets it can be wide, so a quick back-then-lay costs you money.
- A bet only counts once it is matched. If you ask for a better price than anyone is offering, your bet sits as “unmatched” until someone takes it, or until you cancel it. Check the Open Bets panel before you walk away from the screen.

Cricket Markets You Will See on PlayExch
Cricket on an Indian exchange is laid out differently from a European sportsbook. These are the market types you will meet most often, and what each one actually asks:
- Match Odds
- Who wins the match. In Tests and some limited-overs games, “The Draw” is also a runner. This is the deepest market, with the most money on both sides.
- Bookmaker
- The same question as Match Odds, but at fixed rates shown in a simplified format. Many players use it because the prices are easier to read quickly during play.
- Fancy / Session
- Yes or no questions about runs, such as “will the first 6 overs produce more than 48 runs?” You choose Yes or No on a line, and the line moves after almost every ball.
- Toss and other specials
- Short markets such as the toss winner, or whether the match will end in a tie. They open and close on a fixed schedule before or during the game.
During live play, markets are briefly suspended each time something big happens, such as a wicket, a boundary or a review. This is normal. It stops anyone from betting on a result that has already happened. Session lines in particular move fast, so read the line before you tap, not after. Deposits and Withdrawals: How Money Moves
Payments on PlayExch run through our team, so the steps are a little different from a site with an automatic cashier. Knowing the steps in advance saves you a lot of back-and-forth in the chat.
Adding money
Ask in the chat for the current payment details, then pay from your own UPI app or bank account.
